Totally loving Tickled Pink Stamps

This post is my final one as a  Fiskarette, my three months are up and it's time for some new designers.

Tomorrow I will go through all I've learnt about Fiskars products, my favourites pieces and what I now can't live without.  

The card I'm sharing with you all today features one of Tickled Pink Stamps Lil Victorian Steampunk images called Victorian Steampunk Lad Luca.  I really struggled choosing which one to have as I bought quite a few of the digis in the last week as a pick me up after having stupid amounts of pain with my back.  Ok more than quite a few, I bought 8.

And here's my card :

Luca is coloured with my copics, and he is edged with vintage photo distress ink.

The BP has been edged with the same distress ink, as has the circle.  The papers are from my stash pile, the kraft cardstock has been embossed with Fiskars squares texture plate and then spritzed with perfect copper perfect pearls mist as has the circle.  The ribbon was from a set from TK Maxx.  The punched spotty strip is done with my fiskars bracket border punch.  The ticket was made by the every talented Marion.

Why you need to rush out and buy Fiskars texture plates

Today I have a little tutorial for you.  When I found out I was going to be DT member for Fiskars, i began looking at fiskars craft stuff.  I saw some of their texture plates, going for about £3 so decided to go ahead and get them.  Well I'm SO glad I did, they are brilliant.

They come in lots of different textures, each plate has 2 different textures and the textured area is 14cm square, so much better than the normal A6 embossing folders.

Yesterday I went to the range and they had the plates reduced from £1.99 to £1 for a pack of 2 plates (4 textures)  How much would it cost you to get 4 different textures of embossing folders? Around £16!!

My tutorial will cover how you can use these plates in your cuttlebug.  I only have a cuttlebug, but you can use them n your bigshots, I just don't know the sandwich you would need.

Here's what you will need :

Cuttlebug, A plate and C plate

Mini mister

tan embossing mats or as in my case a free mouse mat cut to size mine is 2mm deep)

Texture plate and card

The sandwich for the cuttlebug I used a 2mm free mousemat. So the sandwich  is a plate, texture plate, card, mouse mat (smooth side down, not like mine in the photo) and then your c plate.

Now if you're wondering why I said you need a mini mister, well it's because if your card is slightly damp you get a deeper emboss.  Here is a  photograph showing the difference in depth of embossing between the misted paper and the dry paper.

Yes you will get some slight buckling of the card that has been misted but it sticks down fine.

So what do you think?  I think at the outlay cost it's really worth having a play and finding the perfect  sandwich for your machine.

Every Day

Hi there, how's your weekend going?  The sun has just made an appearance here and I'm off to tea with the in-laws so things are looking up.

My card today is for Fiskarettes.

First let me show you my card and then give you a run-down on where you can get the various elements.

So do you like it?  I'm quite liking these clean and simple cards and you will probably be seeing some more of them in the future.

This card is A5 in size.  I began by punching the edge with my Fiskars bracket punch (I love this punch so much, it feels really sturdy) and then built up that side with a strip of pale green card.  I drew some stitches along the punched edge to add some simple embellishment.  I then lightly drew 2 pencil lines in the bottom right hand corner (to make positioning so much easier) and used my Fiskars circle everywhere punch.  I placed a piece of ribbon with stitch detail between the circle window and the punched border.

Next I stamped the pram from the Fiskars clear baby stamps in the circle window and coloured it in, adding glitter to the stars on the pram.

Finally I printed out and trimmed the sentiment "Every Day holds the probability of a miracle". This was matted onto a piece of green C/S to match that running along the bottom of the card.

Gems were added to the pram wheels and the ribbon.

Fancy A Challenge??

Before I get to sharing today's card with you I thought I'd tell you about a few challenges you might not have of before.

Over on the Fiskarettes site there are currently 2 different challenges with some great Fiskar's products up for grabs.  The first is the May Focus challenge.  We want to see your garden inspired projects that feature punches, and the second is to create a project that features a banner.  Once again there's some great Fiskar's products up for grabs.

And now onto CS Designs who have a variety of challenges going on. They currently have 3 challenges going on on their 2 forum communities of  Simply Scrapping forum and Paper Crafts Planet.  There's a colour challenge, a shape challenge and a great sketch challenge.  We would love to come and join us over there, as well as seeing some great projects there's also loads of tips on recycling items to use for craft plus great craft ideas on subjects such as crafting on the go, plus this week I will be sharing a tutorial on how to use your digi stamps on candles.

Isn't she was of the best dig's around?  She's called Priscilla's Cutouts and is coloured with my copic's.

The circle patterned paper has been made using my fiskars continual stamping wheel with the black ink that it comes with and the fun circles stamp.  I then heat embossed it with clear sparkle embossing powders and coloured many of the circles with mica paints.

The fancy strip across the middle is made using fiskars bracket border punch.  I saw this idea over on the Fiskarettes blog when Michelle used it to make this great card.
