My Dads turning 70!!

When I saw Jennifer Dove's card here I knew that sentiment would work perfectly for my Brother-in-laws card for my Dad's birthday.  Whilst you are at Jennifer's blog have a look around, her colouring is some of the best I've seen.

Happy birthday Dad

The following card I have made for my Dads 70th birthday which is on Sunday.  He makes me the most things to help me with my crafting.  He's made me a sloping desk so my back doesn't ache too much colouring, he's made me around 20 ink blending tools for my many distress inks, he came and collected my desk and expedit unit when I bought them off ebay.  

I am a daddy's girl and very proud of it.

The only change I made was I used the tools instead of the 3 small squares.

On the second photo you can see the small "made with love" charm I used as Dad's projects are always with love.

I Toad-ally Love You

This card is form my FIL to my MIL AandI can't go into the exact reason as to why I had to use this image from Doodle Dragon Studios as my FIL wouldn't want everyone to know about his birthday present underpants and my MIL wouldn't want people to know she fell over whilst trying to shake a frog off her foot, so I won't tell you.

The twins 1st Birthday

A year ago I was asked to make 2 cards for the birth of her Twin Grandchildren.  She loved what I did, and I have now made their Christening cards and Christmas cards and now they are turning 1.

Happy Birth-day

My husbands best friend is due to become a father for the second time very soon so I thought I had better make his Birth-day card in case he arrives early.

I am entering this card into the following challenges :

Doodle Dragon Studios - A birthday card with 2 colours from the blog header (I have used brown from the moose and blue from the top of the blog

Mojo Monday - the sketch below (I substituted the bow for the sentiment)

A gem of a challenge - pearls and swirls (pearls in the flowers and swirls on the PP)

Paper Sundae - Use 2 elements. I used pearls, sparkle and die-cuts.

Now here come the photo's, sorry but there are quite a few.

 This photo was taken before the card was finished to show the PP I made using my fiskars baby stamps, my embossing pad and some blue mica powder. I didn't have any baby PP so was pleased with the outcome of this.

So this is how I made this card.

I cut 2 circles from blue card stock.  One at 22cm and one at 21cm.  As I said above I made my own PP and finished both circles off with some hand drawn stitching in blue sakura glaze pen.  I used my fiskars bracket border punch on some of the leftover blue card from the circle and then edged them in blue using a pigment ink pad. I then cut this metallic paper 6cm wide and attached the border strip to it, and mounted it flat onto the card.  It was then trimmed to fit.

Next I printed the really cute baby teddy on his rocking horse onto a circle of card and coloured him    with copics and sakura stardust pens.  I did the hand drawn stitching to it.

The scalloped circle was cut on my cricut using Make the Cut.  This was also hand stitched.

Next came the flowers.  I used my new large flower squeeze punch.  I've not used one of these before as I've always had the usual kind.  Well I LOVE this way of punching shapes.  It really is so much easier to use than the normal punches.  The flowers were punched from some of the left over blue papers.  Some of them I used my perfect pearl mist on to give the flowers a bit of shimmer.

Then I used my embossing stylus to give the flowers some shape and glued 2 together to make each flower.

The centre of each flower has a big shiny silver pearl surrounded by 6 tiny blue pearls.  The tiny pearls were originally white but I coloured them with my copics to match the colour scheme.

They were mounted on foam pads and I then added some brown leaves using my woodware grasses punch.

The sentiment was computered generated.

I had seen a card the other day that had this phrase (sorry I can't remember where) and thought it was a great phrase to use on a card for a new born.

 This card did take me quite a long time to do today as it was a very involved design.

Happy Birthday Dave (FIL)

Today is my Father-in-laws birthday.  He's 21 again.

His loves our holidays to Mexico so I decided to make him Mexican themed birthday cards this year.  Which may sound hard but Dustin Pike over at Doodle Dragon Studios has made some great Mariachi images.

I am in a rush to get to his house to give him the cards so please accept my apologies over a rather rushed blog post.

Doodle Dragon Studios Challenge - Hop to it

This challenge has come along at exactly the right time for me.

I am hosting an Easter Bunny Swap over at UKScrappers. You have to buy craft stash for the person you are the Easter bunny for, stash shop for them checking their likes and dislikes lists, and then send them their goodie in time for Easter.  I finished my stash shopping on Friday and had decided to send their goodies in a personalised bag.  So when I read on The doodle Dragon Blog that the challenge was to make anything but a card using an Easter theme, I nearly danced for joy.

This was no quick make, it probably took me around 3 hours!!

So how did I do it??

Well first off you have to order from your local take-away so you can get a nice brown paper bag, hey the things we do for our art!!

I then measured the bag and opened up a page in adobe elements the exact size of the bag.  I then played around with various images until I had created the scene I was happy with.

I used the fence, the Easter signpost and Grumpy Bunny.  The Easter images are from the February membership.   I printed out the fences and signpost separately to the grumpy bunny.  I then coloured the fence, and signpost with my copics, highlighted the signpost with white gel pen, coloured parts of the Easter eggs with metallic pens and then used bundled sage distress ink to do the grass. 

I then coloured my grumpy bunny with copics, used caroles white fluff (it's like white flower soft) then cut around the bunny and the scene with my craft knife.

Next I cut a piece of blue paper the size of my bag and distressed around the edges with faded jeans distress ink. I then cut a cloud shape out, split it in two and glued then onto my sky.

The sky and scene were then stuck flat onto the bag and finally my grumpy bunny was stuck on the front using foam pads to pop him from the background.

I love how this bag has turned out and in all honesty I don't know if I can give it away.

Doodle Dragon Studios Challenge - Spring Showers

Sorry for being a bad blogger this week.  I've swapped some of my daily painkillers for a patch and it's taking a bit of getting used to.  I'm just sooooo tired.  Hopefully once my body gets used to it, I will feel more awake.

Anyway onto this weeks challenge over at Doodle Dragon Studios.

The cute bee is from the latest release, which you can find here.  He's called bee basket.  I chose him as I saw my first bumble bee this week.

He's coloured with my copics and I have used some glamour dust on his wings to give that little sparkle.

The scalloped circle was cut on my cricut and i have faux stitched around the edges with sakura black star dust pen.  The patterned paper was made using 3 small flowers stamps and black chalk ink.  These has yellow gem centres along with the flower he's holding in his hand.

The ribbon is a left over from my childhood and the yellow card candy is some of the newly released flower patterned candy that I got at the GNPE show yesterday.

Doodle Dragon and Cute Card Thursday Challenge card

Well today see's the re-launch of Doodle Dragon Studio's challenge.  The challenge will now be run from the main Doodle Dragon Blog and not the challenge blog.

The challenge is titled Spring is in the Air.

I have combined my entry with the Cute Card Thursday challenge.  This week they have a really nice sketch designed by the design team member Christine.  I loved using this sketch that I'm sure you will be seeing it again soon.

This morning I was watching a you tube tutorial by the talented Marlena this morning and I've her tri-fold card idea for this card.

The image is from the Febuary edition of the monthly digi stamp club.  You should check it out as its a real bargain price.

The PP were from a recent trip to Kanban.  The cute bunny is coloured with copics, and has a slight shading of blue chalk ink to represent the sky and he has a shiny nose from glossy accents.  The circle and the shaped circle were cut on my cricut using my accent essentials cart.  The ribbon was from my stash.  The bow was made using my trusty bow-easy.  The 2 pieces of ribbon on the top right are held in place with tiny brass brads.  The pink flowers are punched in pink dew paper using a woodware 5 petal punch and then 2 petals overlapped to make them 3d.  They have pink glitter glue centres and are held in place with silicone glue.

Cute Card Thursday and Sketch Saturday humorous card

I needed to make a card for a friends 60th birthday card and I knew just the image I wanted to use.  I picked a Doodle Dragon Studio image of the very cute zebra that I chose to colour in purple.  Well, why not??

I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday to do the following card:

I am also entering my card for Cute Card Thursday who want to see your humorous cards.

I used two cuttlebug embossing folders on some scraps of paper and the PP is from a magazine.  The two thin strips are purple glitter paper that have been at the bottom of my scraps bag for quite a while now.The holographic word sixty was cut on my cricut using MTC and cheri font.
