Tiddly Inks Challenge 35 - Quote Me

This past week over at the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog the challenge is called "Quote me"
Well I bought so many new tiddly's last week I couldn't decide which one to go for but I finally made my selection today and once she was coloured in the card came together super fast and I'm really pleased with the result.  The light is very poor today so my card has come out too dark as my proper camera is on charge and I'm using the camera on my iphone.

The image is called Annie's get well bear and was coloured with my copic's.  The metal hinges on her little box are coloured with my gold sakura metallic pen and I used my sakura stardust pen on the hearts in the image.  The image and quote are mounted on turquoise card from the range.  The PP and the red textured card are from my stash.  The 3 red hearts are hand cut from a piece of scrap red glitter paper.  See I knew keeping all those tiny tiny pieces of glitter paper would come in handy one day.
Thanks for stopping by, and I'm already excited to see what the new Tiddly Ink Challenge will be tomorrow.

Pixie Dust Challenge 59 - Who's the chef

This week Mike's Gran had some bad news for the hospital so I thought I would make her some flapjack to cheer her up a bit when we went to visit last night.  I decided I'd make a cute bag to put the flapjack to make it a bit more special.

The glass of milk in the photo is because whenever I go to his Gran's I always have a big glass of milk.  It's a bit of a standing joke.
Looking at the bag now, I think the glittery flowers on the top left of the image could do with a centre in them.
The bag was cut on my cricut from the pearlised card available at the range, the glittery ribbon on the bag and tying the cellophane bag is a from papermania I think.  The flowers and eaves were punched with my woodware punches.
The cute pixie on the bag is called Pixie Lilly.
This bag is entered into the Pixie Dust Challenge Who's the chef?
The name of the cute pixie is Pixie Lilly.

Mojo Monday Challenge 175 featuring a Tiddly Ink

Yesterday I was asked to make a 30th birthday card.  My customer had previously looked through my digi stamps to see which image she wanted and she chose a Tiddly Inks image called three flowers in vases.  I can't find it in the shop so it must have been a freebie at some point.
Here's the card:

I used the following sketch from Mojo Monday.

The black textured card used for background was dusted with purple mica powders to give it a faint glimmer.
The image was coloured with a mixture of copics and sakura metallic pens.  The petals are done in glamour dust.  The sentiment was printed on my printer and both the image and sentiment were given a dotted border with the sakura pens.  The ribbon was from my stash and I used my bow-easy to make the bow.  The pins stuck through the bow were from my stocking swap fairy over on UKScrappers.  The Purple core-dination cardstock is embossed with the d'vine swirl embossing folder and then lightly sanded.  The card was finished with my favourite embellishment of card candy.
I hope you like my card and don't forget you don't have much longer to enter my blog candy post which you will find at the top of my blog.
Thanks for dropping by and all the lovely comments you leave me,

Tiddly Inks Challenge 34 - Just Be Me inc Sketch Saturday

Here's what Tiddly inks challenge is all about :
This week's challenge, #34, is called "Just Be Me". Make a card that is all about YOU!! Don't be shy! Everyone likes to have the chance to share their passions, ideas and creative sides! Come play and let your fabulous inner self shine through.
I've had a long hard think about this challenge, and finally chose which stamp to use.
I chose Hope as she is holding her card aloft, has a stamp in her other hand and is accompanied by her faithful dog.  I have coloured her in colours that I wear all the time, though my hair is not curly it is the colour of Hopes.
I'm always playing with my craft goodies and nearly always have at least one dog by my side.
As this title is all about me, I made hope into an easel card and placed her a set of drawers I made to match the card.

Front view

Side view

I have a bizarre addiction to miniature drawers, not entirely sure why but that's just me.
The drawers were made with brilliant tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers.
The blue pearlescent card stock is from the Range and come in lots of colours in very large sheets.
The patterned paper is from Bo Bunny and it is the reverse side of Sophie Stripe. The strip of paper across the middle is an off cut of white glitter paper coz I have to have some bling somewhere and finally its finished as usual with card candy.  I used the sketch from over at Sketch Saturday.
Here is the sketch:

I'm sorry the photo's look a bit washed out but I will try and get some better one's tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving me some lovely comments, I read them all.
I now have 3 extra goodies to add to my blog candy giveaway, check back tomorrow to find out what they are.

Pixie Dust Studio Challenge # 58 " Button Up "

Just the one card to show you at the moment and it's my Pixie Dust Challenge Card..
When I won last week's challenge I chose Zeeba the Zebra as my free digi stamp and I'm really pleased with how my card has turned out using this cute guy..
Here's my card:

The image is coloured very simply with sakura stardust pens for that extra sparkle.  The sentiment reads cute as a button and I have dotted around the edge with my black stardust pen.
I have used my Martha Stewart Double Loops punch around the page on some black gemstock card and backed it with red pearlised card.
The two pp are from my stash and finally the big red buttons are from Heywood market and were 50p each.
I hope you like my card and Don't forget to enter my blog candy draw (details at the top of my blog) as I will be adding 3 more goodies to the draw tomorrow so don't forget to come back and see what else I add,

I won the Pixie Dust Studio Challenge

Yesterday morning I was thrilled to find out that I won the challenge over on Pixie Dust Studio Challenge Blog.

My prize was to pick a digital stamp of my choice.  On every page I found a digi I loved so once I got to Zeeba the zebra I decided not to look on any more pages or I'd really be really struggling.
Hopefully if you come back tomorrow you will see my new Pixie Dust challenge card as well as my Tiddly Inks challenge card.

Ouch Doodle Dragon Card

This Friday my niece's fiancé is having to go into hospital to have about 10 teeth removed, so I thought I'd send him a card to let him know we are thinking of him.
My card is being entered into the following 3 challenges :
Fab 'n' Funky's let's get warm and toasty,
Meljen's square or round shaped card
&
Mojo Monday's sketch challenge.

My card is a square card (Meljen's challenge), the inside reads "think you deserve to be tucked up in bed, all warm and cosy" (Fab 'n' Funky challenge) and it is made using the following sketch (mojo monday challenge)

And here's my card :

Sorry the photo's not too good.  My lamp has blown up so I'm relying on my desk lamp.
The Image is one of my many Doodle Dragon Studio images which is coloured in with my copic's as usual.  The red PP is some wrapping paper I saved ages ago, the pale green PP and the ribbon are from my stash.  The image and the green PP have been dotted with my sakura stardust pens. The dragons horn's and spikes are coloured with green copic then I've gone over it with my clear stardust pen. The word ouch was cut on my cricut and has been covered in glamour dust.
Thanks for dropping on by and don't forget to enter my blog candy giveaway,

Pixie Dust Challenge 57 "Let's Play Tag"

This week the challenge over at Pixie Dust Challenge Blog is called
"Let's play tag!"
Create a tag or use a tag on your card/project.

Here's my tag card:

For this card I chose the adorable Wink. He's coloured with my copic's as usual.  The textured shimmery cardstock in the background is called the gemstone collection but I can't rember who it's by thou.
The patterned paper is just an off-cut from my scrap drawer.  I've used my ek success swiss cheese punch on the turquoise scrap paper and the sentiment is from Lili of the Valley.
This large tag card was cut on my cricut using the plantin schoolbook cartridge.

Pixie Dust Studio Card

Hi there, thanks for stopping by.
Today card is being entered into the following challenges :
Here's what they have to say over at Get Funky:
Going Round In Circles
so I want to see all sorts of circles on your projects whether it's on the paper, card shape and so on
The main rule that you must use at least one Funky Hand product remains the same and to help you take part this month there is a freebie which Anice is so kindly giving away for this month to help you with this challenge
Your freebie can be downloaded from the Funky Hand website, look for the freebie in the downloads section.
The other change to the challenge set up is that you will have to come back here every third day this month when a different DT member will be showcasing their project, so remember to follow this blog so you know when a new project has been uploaded- there will also be instructions and some tutorials on how the projects have been made
This way you won't forget to enter the challenge, still thinking you have all month and then before you know it the month has disappeared and your entry not completed and you lost the chance to win your choice of download from the shop.
And here is Friday Sketchers sketch :

And here is my card :

Its a bit away from my usual style and colours, but we all need a change every now and then.
The image is January Pixie and she has been coloured in with my copic's.
The patterned paper across the middle is the free paper available for free for this challenge.
The red textured mirri card and the green textured card underneath January Pixie were both bought from Qvc a while ago now.  The pale green paper is from my stash and I've popped some punched red and green glitter circles to jazz it up a bit.  The final bit of sparkle used on the spots on her hat and scarf and on the smaller circles on the PP is from my sakura clear stardust pen.
Thanks for stopping by and for all the lovely comments, I appreciate them all.
Don't forget to enter my blog candy draw while you're here.

Sketch Saturday - Week 138

Today I have two posts for you.
First up is my entry for Sketch Saturday. The second post will be my blog candy post, which I will do when I find out how to keep that post at the top of the page.
  Here's the sketch :

I've mixed up the sketch slightly by moving the sentiment to the bottom and swapping the circles to the left.  Here's my card :

I hope the photo is ok for you to see as I used mica powders and they are not the easiest to photograph.
The image and sentiment are stamped in versamark ink and dusted with copper mica powders.  I'm unsure of the make of the stamp as I borrowed it off a friend.
For the script background I used a script background stamp and VersaMagic red brick chalk ink.  I also used this ink to edge the card base slightly.  The circles are covered in the same chalk ink then coated with Anita's clear gloss.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you come back later on to check out my blog candy,

Doodle Dragon and Mojo Monday challenge Card

I'm on a roll today arn't I? This is my second and third challenge entries today.
This card will be entered into the following challenges:
We would like to start off the New Year with a more simple challenge to get you "warmed up". I know for most of us its still winter, so for this challenge let's do a "Winter" challenge. Its that simple. Using a Doodle Dragon Designs image, create something fantastic and "wintery"One lucky person will get drawn for a free image of your choice.  The Challenge runs for 2 weeks..so you had better get started :)

What are you waiting for...this could be your last chance to use up your snowflake embellishments before winter is over.

And finally here is my card :

The image is called Bundle one from Doodle Dragon Studio's.
He was coloured with my copic ciao's.  The patterned paper was a freebie from a magazine, the ribbon was reduced at Tesco's to 32p for 3.5meters just after Christmas, the snowflakes are from a MS punch and a sizzlit die.  The snowmans fur trim and bobble on his hat are colered in Galamour Dust.  The card is finished off with my usual Card candy from Craftwork Cards.
Lots of love,

We are going to have such fun with all new challenges, prizes, tutorials and techniques. Christy has been very busy creating new, stunning, and versatile images for the shop. Who doesn't love a new release at the very beginning of the New Year? =)

Now - onto our first challenge of 2011! It's a new year, new us, and a new YOU!! Today's challenge is "Refresh Me".

Create an all white card!! You are allowed to color your image but the rest of your card, embellishments, etc must be white! We cannot wait to see what you create  !! Please have your cards uploaded by next Tuesday, January 18th by 10pm EST.

And so without ado here is my challenge card:

I had this little guy, going swimming boy coloured in since I first bought him and decided as the weather here is so murky dismal   my challenge card would be to remind us all that there will be a summer some time soon.  Though I can't guarantee that the sea will ever be warm enough to go over here in the UK.
The scalloped circle card was cut on my fabulous cricut expression.  The embossed circle has been embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder.
The sentiment circle is from Lili of the Valley.
I hope you like my card and please come and join us Tiddly Inkers and make a card for the challenge.

LOTV challenge card & Sketch saturday callenge cards

Ive made two cards today, both for people who have a an operation recently.
The firts one is being entered into the Lili of the Valley challenge and uses the Little nurse image.

this week its a sketch challenge.  Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

The image is coloured with copic ciao's.  The stripy paper is from papermania called rose garden I think.
The corner swirly bits are cut using a spellbinder shapability set that included christmas images.

I have used the latest sketch from over on Sketch Saturday.
Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

You may think this is a very bizarre get well card so I will explain the story behind the image.
My Dads best friend is going into hospital for an operation on his neck.  Dad asked if he was having his rusty bolts replaced, hence the Frankenstein.  The wording inside the card read "i heard you were feeling a little off colour".

For those out there who love Dustin Pike's digi stamps then I just thought I 'd let you know that the January membership has just gone on-line for a bargain price of $7.50 for 40 digi images!
He also has a new website nearly ready to go live.
If you love a bargain he also has giving fans a final chance to buy the goody bags.
You can find details about his new website, the January membership and the goody bags here.

I hope you have liked my cards and I would love to hear from you so please drop me a message,

Cricut Expression, MTC software and useful websites

I paid for my second hand cricut expression today.  But I'm not allowed to play with it until my birthday which is why I have a new birthday countdown on the top left.
So whilst I sit here, counting down the days and hours I thought I'd share some websites I have found while I've been researching about the cricut.
My main reason I have decided to take the plunge and get an expression is because I learnt about a piece of software called Make the Cut.
Make the cut or MTC can mean you can cut any ttf font or dingbat that you have on your pc.  You can also cut all svg files.  There are plenty of free svg files around as well as some amazingly cheap files for you to buy.

So first I will give you a link to where I shall be buying my MTC software from.
For January the software is $58.36 or £37.75
Plus you can get their starter package file set and a themed scrappydew project package.
Scrappy also do some great tutorials both on their website and you tube.
MTC also have a great forum for if you have questions.  You can find the forum here.

Next set of links will take you to free SVG files.

And finally these site sell files but most give freebies aswell.

I hope these have been of some use to you and please let me know if you have a favourite site you would recommend.

My circle journey - heaven & earth

For December of 2010 the circle journal I had to work on was called Heaven & Earth. We had to choose one living and one dead person to our lay out on and we had to explain why we chose them.

For the heaven page I chose my sister, Heather. I've pulled out the hidden journalling tag so you can read why I chose her.
For the earth page I chose David Jason, who I think is an amazing actor. I've pulled out the hidden journalling tag on this one too so you can read it.

I hope you like my cj entries. This month I have dream destination. I'm currently thinking of doing my layout on the ice hotel, but it's not set in stone yet.

Paula's Blog Candy

A very good friend and fellow blogger is having a blog candy give-away to celebrate her first blog-anniversary.
Here's a little bit about the candy from the woman herself :
Seeing as it is a blogaversary - its only right that I give away some candy - quite what they will be, I'm not sure yet seeing as I only realised literally today that it is indeed a year since I first set my blog up.  Hmmm - let me think about it - so please do come back because I will update this post when I've decided upon something - I'll make it worth your while...
You can find the full post here.
Paula makes the most wonderful wedding stationary, here she show's you a few examples.
So pop over now and leave her a comment on how you got into crafting, then blog about her candy and you are all set to be in with a chance of winning.   You don't have to be a follower but it would be lovely if you showed her you cared by doing so,

The Stamp Pad and Mandy's cake

I have the best day today.
This morning I baked flapjack to have for lunch with my best friend Mandy.  She arrived and after ALOT of chatting, getting excited at the tutorials for the make a cut software, and getting very giddy at all the files there are for the make the cut software we suddenly realised it was 1.10, we hadn't made lunch and Kath was picking us up at 1.30!!
After a rushed slice of cheese on toast and a generous piece of flapjack we got our coats on and jumped in Kath's car to go to The Stamp Pad.
We hadn't been before but Gill off UKScrappers told it was a great shop and she didn't lie.  Gwen has a sale on at the mo, which was a very generous 20% off EVERYTHING!  How we managed to come out with bankrupting ourselves I don't know.
If The Stamp pad is within driving distance for you it really is worth a visit.
Her address is:
The Stamp Pad
72 Chew Valley Road
Greenfield
Saddleworth
OL3 7DB

She's taken our contact details so she can keep us informed of upcoming classes, which I just can't wait for.  The cards she had up on display were gorgeous, using a wide variety of stash and techniques.
If you are looking to go on a retreat, she's running one on the 18-20th March.  Details can be found here.
Although I would dearly love to go, my pennies wont stretch to it.
So unless I win the lottery, I'll just have to stick to her classes.
What was also nice about today was, I got to put faces to names.
Just by coincidence I bumped into Gill from Paper collector anon and Iolanthe from Paperstrokers Anonymous.

And now onto something completely different.
When Mandy showed me the Christmas cake she decorated, I knew I just had to share it with you all.

Isn't it gorgeous!!  There's no way I'd be able to cut into that.
The story behind the cake is that Father Christmas doesn't wake til 11.55, so here he is with just a few more minutes sleep to go.

Oh yes, nearly forgot.  I might have found a second hand cricut expression!!!  How good is that!!
Anyhow, thanks for dropping by, and for all your lovely comments, they really maake me smile,
ttfn
