Leahs 2nd Birthday

Before you say anything, yes, I know she's a dog but we don't have human children, our family is made up of me, Mike and the dogs.

Here's our birthday girl.

I love this photo of her.  I took this one as part of my family assignment on the photography course i took last year.  She's watching television, which is one of her favourite things to do, especially if its a video featuring her.

Hopefully tomorrow I will find the time to do the Lili of the valley challenge.
I need to do a get well card for my friend Amanda who is in hospital at the moment after a recent operation.

Nearly forgot to say, don't forget to check the big sale that starts tomorrow over at Tiddly Inks

Tiddly Ink challenge card & What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday (69)

Hello everyone.  I will apologise in advance if there are spelling mistakes, but I've got one hell of a headache.

First off my tiddly ink card.

Challenge 23: Diamond glaze/Crackle accent

Happy fall everyone! We have a great new challenge for you this week.
I know I had fun with it. :)
We are all about cards and projects with crackle finishes and diamond glazes this week, and you can see some great examples from the design team below.

Pick your favorite Tiddly Inks image and create using diamond glaze or a crackle finish (I have a freebie crackle design paper in our PCP group this week) and link your card by next Monday night at 10 PM CST.

I don't have any diamond glaze or crackle finish but i think Anitas 3d gloss finish is the same thing-ish.
Its my friends birthday today and so i chose sealed with.
Im not a cat person but this cat is just too cute to sit in the shop.
I already had him coloured in with my promarkers and his nose and eyes are shiney thanks to the clear gloss and so hes simply layered up onto blue card that ive used one of my martha stewart punch around the pages on.
He is then layered up onto the card base and the edge of the card is edged with anitas glitterations in silver.  The inside said of all possessions a friend is the most precious.

Don't forget to check out the tiddly inks store on friday for lots of new images and a big sale.

Its now Thursday.  Blogger didn't want me to upload any photos yesterday so here I am.

My desk is not as tidy as last week even though I've hardly crafted this week.

On the paper trimmer are my new sizzix christmas embossing folders.
A really nice set for christmas cards but also the large can be used all year round as its just large circles.
I got it from country view crafts here and they were also doing free p&p.

If you look closely you will also see my pee-wee glitters.  I bought a set of 6 different lots but have decided only to keep three so if my friend doesn't want them they will be going on ebay tonight.

Off for a bit of crafting,
H xx

What shoe are you & a new crop

I have finally done my circle journal entry for this month.
For those that don't know what a circle journal is, here's an explanation I found on the net.
"A circle journal is a scrapbook made by at least 2 scrapbookers.  It is usually passed by mail from person to person.  Circle journals typically have a theme, and each scrapbooker makes a one or 2-page layout on that theme before passing it on to the next group member.  In most circle journal groups, the number of scrapbooks equals the number of circle journal members. Each album travels from member to member before mailing it back to the owner.  A circle journal can be compared to  a round robin for scrapbookers.

Circle journals come in a variety of themes.  The themes can be as simple as "A Circle of Friends," and each member designs a page about herself.  Circle journal themes can be more complex as well, like "Tips and Techniques" or "Our Scrapbooking Design Styles."

My topic for this month was what shoe are you?
Thing is I don't do shoes.  I do trainers, walking boots, wellies and slippers. So really didn't know what i was going to do until Leah my yellow lab brought me my old slippers so I decided to do my slippers before and after she joined our family.
Here's my lay outs.

We are meant to put a photo of ourselves on the sign in page at the back but as well as not doing shoes I also don't do photos, so contemplating cheating and putting a photo of Leah as I wouldn't have done these pages if it wasn't for her.

Now, this afternoon I went to a new crop, over in Middleton.  I went about 3 weeks ago for the first time and said if they did't change the teacher I wasn't going back.  Well, today they asked the person who taught last term to stand in today til they found a new person.
Eleanor, the stand in, was lovely and we made 2 lovely Christmas cards.
This is one of the cards we made.

I don't think you can see it clearly but to open the card to the inside you just lift the bit with the verse on.

Hopefully tomorrow my new crop bag will come and also my new embossing folder set.
I have a notice left of the postie which should be my pee-wee glitters and Mikes going to pick them up for me in the moring.
Also tomorrow morning I need to make a card for a friends birthday.  Hoping it can also be my tiddly ink challenge for this week aswell as I've got quite a bit on and I really need to get a few more pages of the scrapbook I have started for some lovely relatives that recently came over from Perth, Australia.

Thanks for stopping by,
H xx

Another Tiddly Card

At about 5.45pm last night I suddenly realised I had forgot to pick up my prescription from the chemist and had no way of getting there.  A frantic phone call to my SIL who works at a chemist and she managed to get me an emergency supply to last me til monday.  I cost me a fiver but can't live without them.
Whilst on the phone to SIL she said "Oh I need a card for a little girl for tomorrow dinner and can it have her name on please?"  Talk about short notice!
Luckily I had bought Donna from Tiddly Inks earlier in the work and thought this would suit a little girl who wasn't a girly girl.
I coloured her in last night and have finished the card this morning.

I decided to follow the same sketch as yesterdays challenge card and also do it as an easel card like yesterdays.
She is coloured in with my promarkers except for the frogs who are coloured in with my sakura green stardust pen.  The raindrops are made with chalks.
The umbrella, puddles and raindrops are coated in Anitas 3D clear gloss finish to give it the wet look.
The two frogs at the top right are hand draw by me to replicate the one Donna has in her hand.
The greeting is wrote on my craft robo in blue sakura stardust pen.
The green textured paper is from a Gemstone pack, sorry don't know the make.
The patterned paper is DCWV Penny lane.
Thanks for dropping by,

Tiddly Inks Challenge 22: Sketch Challenge

This weeks challenge over on the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog is a sketch kindly designed by Betty Boo .

I had such a hard time choosing which of my ever increasing collection of Tiddly Inks to use.
I opted for Christmas Princess.

She is coloured in with my promarkers. The glittered trim on her hat and dress is done in Glamour dust.
The patterned paper is from the Dovecraft winter wonderland pack.
The large snowflakes are cut in glitter paper with my xcut silhouette punch and the small ones with my martha stewart snowflake corner punch.
The let it snow wording is off a glittered peel off.
Finally the tags on the left hand side are looped ribbon printed with the words let it snow and attached with tiny white brads.

Please take the time to stop by the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog and see the gorgeous cards that are on show.

Thanks for stopping by,
H xx

Whats on your workdesk? Wednesday 68

This is my first WOYWW post.
The photo I've taken tonight was after a BIG clear up so I'm not normally this tidy.
I don't have a craft room, its on my wish list along with so many other things.
I use our dining table and store my stuff on my lovely bookshelves.
Mike works 5 days a week 3pm til midnight so we don't get a chance to eat at the table so my stuff can stay there permanently
The sloping desk was made by my lovely Dad so that when I'm colouring I'm not bending forward very much and therefore easing my back.
On my desk are my latest tiddly inks that I bought last night and my lovely FIL printed for me tonight and even delivered them to me in the rain!  We only live 3 streets away for Mikes family.

The stuff hanging from my desk are actually cutlery racks that Dad has fixed to the side of my desk. They were about £3 each and with one of the dividers snipped out are the perfect size for embossing folders and peeloffs.

The top shelf holds my big shot and my cinch. Under that is my storage chest that i store my promarkers.  The next shelf down has all sorts inc my purple box of punches,.  And finally the bottom shelf has my 12x12 papers and my purple box of stamps.

Today has been my first class at the gym.  Me & Mum went to zumba.  An exercise class to Latin music.  It was fun and we've booked again for next week.  I'm off there again in the morning to do an aqua aerobics class.
I can't always do the movements the rest are doing and I do sometimes miss whole sections out but at least I'm exercising.

EXCITING NEWS

Mum & Dad have paid for me to go to onto Introduction to copic ciao class in November as my Christmas present.
I'm really excited about it as I love to colour, I find it so relaxing.
Thats it for now, thanks for stopping by,
Hugs

Time has done it again

Once again time has run away with itself and I've got virtually no crafting done.  I'm really annoyed I havn't done my tiddly inks challenge card especially as I have the image coloured in ready to go.
Over one the tiddly ink group on paper craft planet there have been some absolutely amazing cards.
Tiddly inks images are a joy to colour in but the skill that is on show over there has got to be the best around.
Please come and join us all for a chat.  There's usually someone hanging around 24hrs as we are all spread around the globe and Christie usually has a new freebie for members every week. How cool is that.

I've decided I need to increase my colouring skills so my lovely mum & dad have said they will pay for the introduction to copics class for my Christmas present. Its on 14th November.  I'm really looking forward to it, though I can't book it til Wednesday when I see mum for our new exercise class, called Zumba.  Will let you know how it goes.

Mikes bad back seems to be getting better as he can now walk upright.  Hopefully he will be back in work tomorrow and we can settle into our usual routine.

Hope your having a great day,
Hugs

Lovely new stash

After a crap nights sleep due to my crappy back and waking with a horrible headache, my lovely hubby suggested we go out this afternoon and was there a craft place I fancied going to!!!!
I chose Crafty cards of Dewsbury, home of Every crafts a pound.
Was not expecting the shop that we found.  You could not go in there and not find a piece of card to match any project going.  They have hundreds of different patterned and plain card stock, great templates (inc one what Mike said we had to get, pics of this will follow) stamps,punches,die-cuts, ink pads, you get the picture.
The lady behind the counter was also very helpful and friendly.
They run classes and I so wish they were closer to me as the cards they had on display were lovely.
Heres what I got :

This is the template that Mike saw and said we should get.  I'll post the completed example further down.

I don't think its possible to have too much bling!

Thought this was quite a good deal as I was running low on white card.

My first Tim Holtz distress ink pads, 6 little dummies in blue and pink, and some lovely shimmer card.

And now to what caught Mikes eye.  How cute is this guy?!?!?

I've printed off some digi stamps before tea and may make a start on then once we've walked the dogs.
Thanks for dropping by,
H xx

Where has the week gone????

This is my first post since Sunday and I've been really busy or so it seemed.  When I think back to what I've done this week it seems to be not much. Got my hair cut and coloured on Tuesday morning then went to my crop in the afternoon, had lunch out with my photography friends yesterday, the rest of the time, no idea, sorry.
Today it was my turn to host our crop. We have a small group of friends who take it turn to design that weeks two cards.  Its Christmas cards at the mo so we can get a wide variety in stock.
My choice of cards were a simple heat embossed snowman card and a 3d poinsettia wreath which I cut on my craft robo and took ages to put together.
The template for the poinsettia wreath was made by ErikaP and generously uploaded to UKScrappers for others to download.
The stamps used in both cards are made by inkadinkado.

Hopefully tomorrow I will get a chance to do my challenge cards and some more of Peter & Shirleys scrapbook.  Peter & Shirley are two lovely relatives who came over from Perth ,Australia for 6 weeks.
Nearly time to walk the doggies and got to catch up on the goings on the Tiddly Inks chat on Paper Craft Planet.
Love n hugs

Leelou Blogs

Yesterday at Mum n Dads I helped Dad transfer the cow and calves from the shed to the field and now I'm pretty sore.
My hip won't allow me to sit on a chair and craft so I'm laid on my settee blog hopping.
I'm really glad I did as I stumbled upon leelou blogs.
The beautiful template you see here was downloaded for FREE from her blog.
She has some beautiful designs for free but also has some pre-made layouts for $10.

Mike has finally finished working nights and has the next 9 days off as he's worked the past 21 days straight.  We've decided we will have at least one day out while he's off but sure where to yet.
Off for some more blog hopping.
Enjoy your Sunday,
H xx

New Christmas Tiddly Inks & LOTV Challenge Card

Have you seen the new Christmas Tiddly Inks? No?? Quick go and have look.  They are so gorgeous and if you're anything like me you'll want them all!!

I've decided I'd enter another challenge and created a card for the Lili of the Valley weekly challenge.
Challenge 64's theme is "One For The Boys".
I've chosen to use the James Bear, Wrapped in Tinsel which you can find here.
I coloured him in promarkers, used red glitter for the tinsel and metallic sakura pens for the baubles. I then did a morse code pattern around the edge and blended some silver ink around the image.
James is mounted on red glitter card, them onto some patterned paper I had lying around.
Both the large and small stars are punched from holographic paper using Martha Stewart punches.

I'm off to Mum and Dads this afternoon to put some stuff on ebay as its free listing this weekend, plus Mikes at footy this afternoon watching our local team Rochdale AFC.
Hope you all have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by,
Hazel xx

How to do a twist card & Thomas the Tank Engine.

Well today's been pretty busy.  This morning I went with my mum into Bury to get some coated card from rymans.  It was on 3 for 2 so got 300 sheets!!
I can now stamp and colour with my promarkers to my hearts content.
This afternoon I designed a Thomas the tank engine template for my craft robo, for a member of my team on UKScrappers.
Heres the Thomas I made.

How to do a twist card

For the sake of this tutorial I will use the measurements I normally use but this will work on any square card.
I have taken photos to help show you exactly what I'm talking about.
  • Cut your card stock to 29x14.5cm
  • Fold in half then on the square on the left fold from the top left to the bottom right. This bit is the important bit, get it mixed up and you'll have to start again.

  • Next cut a piece of card 14.5cm square and use this to do your card design on.

  • Turn your card base over and put double sided tape on the bottom right triangle only of the front of your card.

  • Attach your card design to the front of your card base.
  • Finally you need to make a stopper for your card to prop itself up against.  This needs to be put on a foam pad in the bottom right hand corner in the inside of your card.
  • The closer to the centre your stopper the more upright your card will be.

My Tiddly Inks Challenge Card

Challenge 20: Happy Birthday! Create a birthday invite/card

A very merry unbirthday to you, to you!!! :)
So glad you came to play on our
un-birthday celebrations of birthdays (unless it happens to be your birthday this week, then a very merry birthday to you. :D)
We are all about the day of your birth this week, so choose your
favoritest Tiddly Inks image and make a birthday card with it....who couldn't use an extra birthday card? :)

Well this is my very first challenge card.  I couldn't decide with of Christie's new pussy cat digi stamps I wanted so got them both.

I hope you like my twist pussy cat card.
I've coloured the image in with my trusty promarkers and used my sakura clear stardust pen on his nose.  The patterned paper is from the DCWV rockstar stack.
The sentiment was wrote by my craft robo using the sakura black stardust pen.
The paw print is from the inkadinkado dogs clear stamp set and has been embossed with cosmic shimmer black glitter embossing powder.

Hopefully tomorrow I will do a step by step guide to my twist card.
